Today: The Suffering King

Kings sit on thrones, right? And wear a golden crown and rule over their tribe or country? They are leaders…

Well, in the conventional sense, this may be true, but Jesus was never conventional.

Crown of Thorns

He was a leader that led by example – He did good to everyone, He opposed corruption, and He faithfully obeyed God. By these things He stood out as a rebel and He paid a high price. He was valued but became hated. He spoke the truth but was accused of lying. He didn’t fit the world view of that day.

Our Easter Morning Family Service today looks at Jesus as The Suffering King. No throne and golden crown. Instead a cross and crown of thorns. It begs the question “Why?”

As last week, this is Easter viewed with the right perspective. No Easter bunnies or chocolate. Just God’s truth and love.
