These are dark times for a lot of people – times of isolation or loneliness, of illness or loss, of job insecurity or financial pressures. Christmas reminds us of a time when light came into the world in the form of a baby, born in humble surroundings, who, at 33, died on a cross as Saviour for all mankind. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John1v5)
